Itinerary
8:30 AM – Departure from Kampot
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kampot to Bokor Mountain, passing through winding roads surrounded by misty forests and stunning viewpoints.
9:00 AM – Black Palace (Veang Khmao)
Built in 1936 by King Monivong, the Black Palace (Veang Khmao) was a royal retreat, offering the king a peaceful escape from the heat. Today, its ruins remain, with moss-covered walls and panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand.
9:30 AM – Popokvil Waterfall
Named after the Khmer words for “swirling clouds,” Popokvil Waterfall is a two-tiered cascade famous for its refreshing mist. The falls are best visited during the rainy season (May–October), when the water flows strongly.
10:30 AM – Old Catholic Church
This eerie, red-brick Catholic Church was built by the French in the 1920s for settlers and soldiers stationed at Bokor. During the Khmer Rouge era, the church was abandoned and used as a military stronghold. Despite its ruined state, the church remains a hauntingly beautiful landmark.
11:00 AM – Bokor Hill Station & Old Casino
Built in the 1920s, Bokor Hill Station was once a luxury retreat for French colonists, featuring a grand casino, hotel, and post office. The hotel-casino, known as Le Bokor Palace, was abandoned twice—once after Cambodian independence and again during the Khmer Rouge conflict. The site is now a fascinating ruin with a ghostly charm.
12:00 PM – Lunch with a View ️
Enjoy a traditional Khmer lunch at a local restaurant, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and coastline.
1:30 PM – Lok Yeay Mao Monument
The Lok Yeay Mao statue, standing 29 meters tall, honors a legendary Khmer protector spirit believed to safeguard travelers and fishermen. It’s a significant religious site for Cambodians, with many visitors stopping to pay their respects.
2:00 PM – Sampov Pram Pagoda
The Sampov Pram Pagoda (Five Boats Pagoda) was built by King Monivong and is named after five boat-shaped rocks nearby. This Buddhist temple, surrounded by clouds and mystical landscapes, offers one of the most breathtaking views of the coastline.
3:00 PM – Sunset Viewpoint (Weather Permitting)
Before heading back, stop at one of Bokor Mountain’s panoramic viewpoints to enjoy stunning vistas of Kampot town, the Preah Monivong National Park, and the Cambodian coastline.
4:00 PM – Depart Bokor & Return to Kampot
Drive back to Kampot with great memories and incredible photos from your Bokor Mountain adventure
